Context and objectives of the training

The objective of the sector is to train versatile engineers capable of ensuring comprehensive integrated management of the various aspects: quality, safety, hygiene and environment as well as the management of industrial and environmental risks. This type of training is not, to our knowledge, currently provided in Algeria. There are certainly a few structures that offer training in health and safety or quality or the environment, but none provides training for QHSE-GRI state engineers.

The need to integrate the environment, quality and industrial risk management component into business development strategies and alignment with international standards is a requirement for the Algerian industry so that it can become competitive and maintain itself. develop through the conquest of market places or promising niches.

Industrial risks represent a danger that can threaten the environment and the various sites at any time, especially in the north, where a large number of industries are concentrated. The chemical industry, petrochemicals, mining and the transport of hazardous materials are the activities most likely to cause significant damage to people, property and the environment.

Algeria calls on foreign experts whenever the need arises. The training of Algerian engineers therefore becomes essential to adapt to developments in this field.

The risks inherent in the various activities involving human, economic and environmental issues give rise to a pressing demand and a requirement on the part of companies for secure sustainable development, in accordance with the provisions of the various standards governing companies today. The application of standards (ISO 9000 – Quality, ISO14000 – Environment, and more recently ISO 26000 – Corporate Social Responsibility) will mark a new era in management.

Quality, health, safety and the environment are closely related areas that companies are trying to develop more and more. Indeed, industrial productions are now forced to take into account not only economic criteria but also certain values ​​such as customer satisfaction and loyalty, as well as respect for the environment and personal safety, in accordance with the regulation.

In order to meet the objectives of improving the employability of engineers, so-called SHEJS (Human, Economic, Legal and Social Sciences) have been introduced throughout the course of the future engineer. Membership of the “Services for Employability and Mobility in the form of Company Internships for Maghreb / ​​Machrek Students” project has made it possible to consider integrating the sector into the “multiservice” digital platform to facilitate research, the finalization, support and monitoring of internships in companies, encourage international mobility and the creation of a label for quality internships co-defined, co-supervised and co-evaluated within the framework of a tripartite agreement: institution / intern / company.

Targeted profiles and skills

  • QHSE-GRI engineers may be called upon to practice in the fields of occupational health and safety, the quality approach, risk prevention and management and environmental protection, both in companies and in the public sector, local communities or in control and prevention organizations.
  • The fields of investigation are extremely diverse: risk assessment and analysis (EAR), improvement of working conditions (ACT), implementation of a Quality-Safety-Environment management system (SM-QSE), training in gestures and postures in the workplace, preparation of Prevention Plans (PP), management of safety audits (AS), etc., all with a view to being part of sustainable development.
    The profile of this training (QHSE-GRI) responds to an extremely strong demand from companies, local authorities, organizations and public services for senior executives with dual scientific and technical skills in risk management, environmental protection and having concern for product quality.
  • The socio-economic sector seeks technological innovation adapted to the needs of the activity, namely profitability and efficiency. In this context, the role of the university is to promote academic training capable of guaranteeing useful practical know-how.

  • The opportunities for this training are many and varied; QHSE-GRI engineers will intervene in different services and fields: Occupational health, Higher education and research, Industrial processes, Reactors and Complex chemical and petrochemical installations, Construction, Electrical installations, Food industry, Pharmaceutical industries, Cement industry, Mechanical industry, Steel industry , Metallurgy, Aerospace / Aeronautics and avionics, Research and Development, Nuclear, Local authorities and central administrations, Design and consultancy offices, Prevention of occupational risks and diseases, Environmental consultancy, management of hazardous industrial waste, Environmental delegate in business, Design office and quality control laboratories, Auditors, Insurance expertise, Consulting, etc.

Regional and national employability contexts

Companies, both national (public and private) and foreign based in Algeria, in all fields therefore need Managers with solid skills in these different themes at the heart of the news.

The industrial sector has always regretted that engineering training in Algeria does not prepare enough for employment, while recognizing quality scientific and technical skills. This situation has led companies to organize their own additional training, thus delaying the profitability of the engineer recruited by one to two years.

The integration of professionalization into the engineering training course (new subjects preparing for management, entrepreneurship, management and decision-making, as well as the association of the industrial sector in training) will improve the employability and efficiency of new graduates.

Terms of Access

Admission to the first year of ENP is governed by the regulatory provisions set by the MESRS.

Admission to the first year of QHSE-GRI training is carried out through a competitive examination followed by a ranking of students from preparatory classes.
